Surprise $10,000 Mother’s Day win for Philippine-born mother of three
Mother’s Day became even more rewarding this year for Charito Indrisie.

Charito is the lucky draw winner of $10,000 cash for sending a Western Union Money Transfer through an Australia Post outlet in Padbury, Western Australia.
Western Union’s Mother’s Day ‘More Rewarding’ promotion was held at participating Australia Post outlets across the country from 14th of April and 18th of May 2008.
The emanila.com websites were among those tapped to help promote the Western Union’s ‘More Rewarding’ campaign to the Filipino community online.
Charito grew up in the Philippines with her brother and has been playing a dual role of mother for two years. She migrated to Australia with her family in March 2006 to pursue a better lifestyle for her three children and to continue her education in Nursing.
Like the many Filipinos living outside the Philippines, Charito still regularly sends money back to her brother in the Philippines to support his daily needs. Little did she know that her act of kindness would result in a $10,000 bonanza.
“I can’t believe I have won $10,000. I never won anything. My family and I are so excited. I think I will treat my family, and then treat myself by putting some of it towards my studies — it is my Mother’s Day gift after all,” she added.
“Western Union is delighted to see that Charito, a mother who takes care not only of her children but also her brother back home, are recognized and rewarded on Mother’s Day,” said David Chin, Western Union Country Director for Australia.
“I hope we have given more reasons for Charito to celebrate this special occasion with her family this year.”
