  1. Hi everyone. Is there anyone who could help me find a job there in Australia? I’m still here in the Philippines i really find it hard looking in the net. Any job would fit me. Hope I could find a positive response.

    • Hello Cla, Saw your message and wanted to let you know of a work opportunity that might suit you. Are you planning to move to Australia and if so, when? The opportunity that I am offering to many people is something that you can actually start whilst you are still in the Philippines and continue to work at when you come to Australia. Please get back to me if you would like to find out more

    Greetings to all !

I am looking for any Filipino Veterans of WW2 living in Sydney who might be interested to attend a Mess Dinner commemorating the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
The Mess Dinner will be conducted by Australian Navy Cadets of Training Ship Sirius on Sat 23 Oct 2010 at Kingsgrove. If anyone has a lolo who served in WW2 and would like to be involved, I would be pleased and honoured to hear from you with contact details.

    • SBLT Chris Hartley

I know of two WW II Veterans in Sydney and I also represent the Australia Philippines Services League, NSW Chapter (APSL NSWC) as the Chief of Staff. Kindly email the details of the event to me so that we can contact the two veterans and I wil also inform the members of APSL NSWC. Cheers. Major Tom Baena, RACMP (Inactive)

      • SBLT Chris Hartley ANC

        Tom,

This is excellent news. We are still working through the details, but the event is at Kingsgrove RSL on Sat 23 Oct 10, commencing at about 1900 & concluding by 2230. Estimated cost is $50 per head. Either Mess Dress or lounge suit with medals to be worn. The RAN Band will also provide a contingent to perform during the evening, and Navy Cadets will feature throughout the evening delivering info re: the Battle – tributes to veterans will also be made. We would be honoured to have any Filipino veterans attending, regardless of whether they were involved in Leyte Gulf – any Filipino veteran is welcome. Do you have a contact phone number, email or website reference ?

  18. Dear Editor

    Filipino Icon cruxified

Last night I watched a well known Filipino Actress/Performer get sacrificed to her fans by greedy promoters,

Yesterday I paid to see Nora Aunor perform having been told of her fame by Filipinos here in Australia.

I sat through several hours of amateur night before realising something was wrong. Then Kuya Germs, an awarded Promoter/Director, came out and it all became apparent.

She had committed herself to the tour, back in February and in April suffered a severe health problem that saw her in a coma and having surgery on her throat. She will never sing again. So while the greedy promoters held her to her contract, and sat outside counting their money, she sat in tears apologising to her fans one at a time while people took photos of her humiliation.

I demanded and got my money back, and would have gladly given it to her to stop and stop the torture.

This morning she flies back to Sydney to do it all again.

To promote and sell tickets for a show they knew would not happen is Fraud in any country, but I don’t blame her at all, the promoters should have cancelled the show.

    • You demanded and got your money back? That’s great, but what about those who did not demand their money back? I understand that under Australian laws there is no need to demand. The promoters or event organisers should have cancelled the show and offered the ticket holders to a refund ~ no questions asked.

We are very much interested to be part of your community, if you may. Thank you and hoping to hear from anyone very soon.
