A Filipino radio broadcaster last week was killed for lack of court protection despite known threats to his life.
According to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and its Philippine affiliate, National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP), Oriental Mindoro-based radio broadcaster Nilo Baculo Sr was shot dead outside his home in Calapan City on Monday, June 9.
Baculo is the 33rd media worker murdered under President Aquino, the fourth media worker to be killed this year and the third radio broadcaster to be killed within a month, said the IFJ [...]
