The Federal Labor Government will provide funding to Landcom to deliver essential infrastructure at Bunya, a new a 730-lot housing development in Western Sydney, the announcement said.

Turning the first sod on the development with NSW Minister for Lands, Tony Kelly, Ms Plibersek said over the weekend that the project demonstrates how the Gillard Labor Government’s economic plan was delivering benefits to Western Sydney home buyers.

“The Federal Labor Government established the Housing Affordability Fund in 2008 to reduce planning and infrastructure costs for new housing developments,” Tanya Plibersek said.

“Through this program the Government is investing more than $460 million in over 70 local projects around Australia.

“These projects will deliver average cost savings of more than $18,000 to the buyers of more than 14,000 residential lots across Australia.”

Ed Husic said that the Gillard Labor Government’s investment in Bunya was a big win for people looking to buy a home of their own in Western Sydney.

“The Gillard Labor Government’s investment in Bunya will save 450 Western Sydney home buyers $20,000 each off the price of a new home,” Ed Husic said.

“The project will also will bring forward the development of a 730 lot estate in an area where new housing supply is greatly needed.”

Funding for this $7.6 million project is already in the Budget, through the Housing Affordability Fund.

Ushering its plan to expand beyond the shores of Luzon and extend the Avida brand to the rest of the country and Filipinos worldwide, Avida Land will hold a second series of sales caravan in Melbourne and Sydney from October 10-26.

The extended boost will be phased out in two stages. First-home buyers during the quarter July – September 2009 will receive the full benefits. First-home buyers during the quarter October – December 2009 will receive 50 per cent.
