Claiming your CTP green slip insurance refunds

If you were the registered owner of a private vehicle as at midnight 30 November 2017, you may be able to claim a CTP Green Slip refund for insurance policies bought or renewed before 1 December 2017.

The NSW Government has reformed the compulsory third party (CTP) insurance scheme to reduce the costs of CTP Green Slips for vehicle owners and better support people injured on our roads.

Over 4 million NSW vehicle owners will be eligible for a refund as a result of these reforms.

CTP refunds can be claimed online between 7pm and 7am Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday. Claims can also be made over the phone by calling a Service NSW CTP refund specialist on 1300 287 733 from 7am – 7pm Monday to Friday or in-store by visiting a NSW Service Centre.

The refund will vary between $10 and $120 depending on when the Green Slip was last renewed. If the renewal date was in early 2017, the refund will be smaller. If it was closer to 1 December 2017, the refund will be higher.

The last day for lodgement of claims is September 30, 2018.
