Edmond Atalla, Member for Mount Druitt today encouraged residents of the Mount Druitt electorate to attend the annual Parliament of New South Wales’ Family Fun Day during the upcoming school holidays on Friday 6 October.
Mr Atalla said the Parliament’s Family Fun Day was a fantastic way for parents, grandparents and carers to entertain children during the school holidays and learn about how Australia’s oldest Parliament works.
“Family Fun Day on October 6 opens sections of the Parliament not normally open to the public, and is a fantastic way for children and adults to see how the Parliament works from behind the scenes,” Mr Atalla said.
The theme of this year’s event is Ghosts of Our Colonial Past with some very special ‘ghosts’ from the Parliament engaging and entertaining visitors with intriguing stories throughout the historic rooms of the over 200 year old building.
Now in its eighth year Family Fun Day will be as unique, entertaining and as fun as it has been in past years. The event is renowned for its highly entertaining theatrical re-enactments.
“Children and adults can visit the Legislative Chambers and take their seat on the benches,” Mr Atalla said.
“Other highlights on the day include arts and crafts, story-telling, role plays, guessing competition, children’s trail, the Parliament’s 1967 referendum display and the opportunity to visit areas rarely open to the public.
“I encourage everyone to come along to the Parliament for Family Fun Day, it’s a unique opportunity for the whole family to learn a little more about Australia’s oldest Parliament and its history,” Mr Atalla said.
