Miss Saigon, the popular musical which is currently showing at The Riverside Theatre in Parramatta, boasts of several talented Filipino-Australian artists in its cast.
The musical, which is about a destitute young woman (Kim) and an American GI (Chris) meeting and falling in love with each other at the end of the Vietnam war, opened on July 28.
The pivotal character in the story, The Engineer is played by multi-awarded singer and versatile film/tv/stage actor Marcus Rivera. Also in a big role is Susana Downes who is playing Gigi (also Kim Understudy). Both these artists have undertaken the respective role in a previous production.
Nigel Guerrero-Guarin and Jediah Christoph Hernandez are the two youngsters who are sharing the role of Tam, the three year old son Kim begot Chris but latter did not know about as he left in a hurry when the GI troops had to go back to the USA, the famous helicopter scene in the stage production.
It is noteworthy that majority of the members of the Ensemble are with Filipino heritage. They are:
