Privacy Awareness Week for 2017 launched, TFA joins as a partner

The Filipino Australian has joined the 2017 Privacy Awareness Week as a partner to assist in the PAW campaign, Emanila publisher Romy Cayabyab announced yesterday.

The #2017PAW campaign, launched early last month by Commissioner Timothy Pilgrim of the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, will run from 15 May t0 19 May.

The Privacy Awareness Week is an initiative of the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities and is the largest campaign in the Asian Pacific that raises awareness on privacy issues and how personal information can be better protected.

“We at emanila take privacy very seriously,” said Mr Cayabyab adding that Emanila has even set up a specialist website, Spam Watchers, which has been in operation for the last 10 years to help in privacy information campaigns.

The publisher of Emanila encourages all the members and readers of Emanila websites to get involved in #2017PAW.

He has given few quick tips on how to get involved including securing members’ privacy settings in their social media profile pages.

He has also advised members to check the privacy policy statements of businesses and websites before giving out their personal information.
