Views: The final curtain falls on CJ Corona

After 44 days of a seemingly never-ending saga of theatrics, twists, fun and dramas, the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona finally ended with a “guilty as charged” verdict.

The Filipino Australian opinion writer and lawyer Lolita Farmer OAM, who has been following the trial since day 1, writes her concluding article on the trial which she fondly called ‘Coronavela’.

Ms Farmer is hopeful that with the conclusion of the hearing, those in charge of the government will now move on and start working to improve the lot of Filipinos who for long have been suffering.

She also wrote that “Corona’s waiver will now be used as benchmark in assessing the transparency and integrity of those in the legislative, executive and judiciary departments” asking, “Will they submit to the same test of signing a waiver allowing examination of their bank accounts?”
