Calvert vs the ‘Goliaths’ of world handballs

Filipino Australian Bevan Calvert, weighing 75 kilos, is pitting his skills ~ and body ~ against heavyweight Europeans in the current Bundesliga handball matches in Germany.

This was what a German sportswriter described Bevan in the match he played last Sunday (Sydney time) with the burly Hanoverian Arkadiusz Bosy, who weighs 115 kilos, guarding him. Although 40 kilos heavier, Bosy was not successful against the powerful and slippery Fil-Aussie handballer. The big guy got a red card when he fouled (his third) against Bevan.

Bevan’s team TSV Altenholz won the match by one goal at the dying seconds against the Hanoverians. In previous outings, TSV lost to the Hanoverians by 9 goals.
