Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott last night faced a group of 200 undecided voters in a public forum at Rooty Hill RSL in Western Sydney.
Ms Gillard and Mr Abbott appeared separately and were given one-hour each to answer questions from the audience in a “town hall” style forum.
During her session hour, the audience took to task Ms Gillard who had to explain her position on the dumping of Kevin Rudd, and on issues concerning climate change, debt and deficit, pensions, gay marriage as well as the State government’s rail link project.
The questions directed to Mr Abbott on the other hand were less challenging. The toughest question directed to him was about his decision to scrap the government’s broadband scheme.
Judging from political analyses and commentaries reported today over, Mr Abbott scored a slight edge in the forum leading up to the election with nine days to go.
