Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) members in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea together with friends and supporters will gather in religious assemblies on Tuesday, 27 July in commemoration of the Church founding in the Philippines 96 years ago.

The assemblies will be conducted in seven major centres in Australia and three in New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

The religious assemblies to be highlighted by commemorative Bible Studies and fellowship are part of the worldwide missionary campaign of the INC mandated by Bro Eduardo V. Manalo, its Executive Minister, who took over the reigns of the INC when Bro Erano G. Manalo passed away in September last year.

The INC with central office in Quezon City, Philippines has close to 6,000 local congregations worldwide. Local congregations composed of 102 nationalities are grouped into 104 ecclesiastical districts in the Philippines and in 90 more countries and territories.

Last year, the Philippine government enacted Republic Act 9645 designating 27 July of every year as Iglesia Ni Cristo Day. The Act decrees the observance of the INC’s foundation day as a national holiday in recognition of the founding anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo in the Philippines.

In Australia, the INC has currently more than 50 local congregations located in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory.

Australian congregations are administered by the INC Ecclesiastical District of Australia-Oceania which includes congregations in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and Kingdom of Tonga.

Sydney is the site of the first congregation of the INC in Australia. The Sydney congregation now based in Carlingford was established in 1976.

An INC edifice built in 1996 from ground up is located along the Great Western Highway in Minchinbury (photo) which houses the Western Sydney local congregation. Other INC church buildings in Australia have been acquired from other religious groups.
