From Sydney to Manila, and return with news stories

Journalist Michelle Baltazar off to ManilaJournalist Michelle Baltazar leaves for Manila on Wednesday, April 8, to undertake a special news report assignment for Rooty Hill-based Filipino Press Group of Sydney.

Ms Baltazar, an author and finance editor in Sydney and a recipient of the Global Filipinos Youth Awards in journalism, will spend 10 days in Manila and return with stories for dissemination in Australia’s mainstream and local Filipino community media.

”It’s the first major project of the group formed in 2006 by Filipino-Australians working in Sydney’s media,” said the group’s spokesman Jaime Pimentel.

”The group comprises journalists, editors, editorial cartoonists, broadcasters, publishers, columnists, photographers and webmasters. They share information and talent with a view to making a better contribution in the media.”

The Philippine Department of Tourism and Philippine Airlines (PAL) are supporting the group in this project.

Ms Baltazar is arranging to interview Philippine Government officials and business people. #
