Fil-Oz Social golf club won the 9th PAL Sydney Interclub Golf Championships with a count back against the very strong team of Sydney Jokers during the 9th series played at Richmond Golf Club last October 26, with both clubs scoring 74 points each.

Fil-Oz win is its seventh since this prestigious and unique tournament among five Filipino Australian social clubs started in 2000.

One hundred twenty golfers competed representing their respective clubs. The tournament is under the auspices of the Sydney Inter-Club Golf Organising Committee (SICGOC) chaired by Ric de Vera of Fil-Oz Social golf club.

Adding colour to the tournament is this year’s requirements where participants had to don uniforms supplied by their clubs.

The event is stroke play and no handicap was used except for the net medal tournament in conjunction winners.

All participants were ranked according to their handicaps and were required to contribute points to their team by beating each other on the same rank.

Rank winner gets 5 points, followed by 4 points for runner up and 3 points, etc. down the line, up to the worse score getting only 1 point. Default golfer gets no point. The individual points were then tallied and made up the criteria for the winning club.
