The Amigos Youth team, sponsored by the Amigos Mechanical Repairs Shop of Mt. Druitt, re-affirmed its status as the number one Metro Sydney and NSW Filos basketball team by winning the inaugural TFC sponsored 1st Filos Metro Sydney Basketball Champions Cup 2008 held at the Stanhope Gardens Leisure Centre over the long weekend of 7 June 2008.
They had to come from behind to nip the Filo JayHawks, 37 – 35, on the superb performance by the finals MVP, Jiffy “Slink” Jusores.
The Amigos Youth team also took the national title defeating the MISC Melbourne squad last April at the Mt Druitt Kevin Betts stadium.
The Filo JayHawks topped Group A action defeating Topglass Amigos, 63-36 and Miller [Liverpool] 66-39 while the Amigos Youth took Group B honours toppling Khroliks [Rockdale] 45-33 and Filo Pages [Liverpool] 55-49.
Jerome Danganan of the Filo JayHawks team won the Eliminations MVP trophy.
