Fil-Aussie golfers tourney in RP

EIGHTY Filipino-Australian golfers coming from different states and territories of Australia are now in the Manila to compete among themselves in the Fil-Aussie’s 14th Interstate Friendship Golf Cup tournament.
“This is the fourth year that this tournament would be staged in the Philippines for three consecutive days. The dates are March 4, 5 & 6 at three championship golf course, namely, Sta Elena, Tagaytay Midlands and Ayala Greenfields,” announced Ric de Vera, the coordinator of the group.
Last year’s team champion was the Australasian Golf Club of Melbourne, host of this year’s event.
“It would be individual stableford, eight to play and six to count towards the team’s points for 3 days. Individual over-all champion, daily champion and runners up are to be awarded trophies, along with fund holes such as nearest the hole on all par 3s, drive & pitch and longest drives,” said Buddy Espineda, President of the host club.
The Teams competing are the Fil-Oz Golf club of Sydney (14) headed by Roland Santos as Team Captain, Filcom Sports of Canberra (17), Ariel Pattugalan, President; Pinoy Golfers of Brisbane (12) Albert Figueroa, President; Darwin Pinoy Golfers (7) Sean Debuque, President; Pinoy Golfers of Pert/Adelaide (8), Nestor Jongko as President and the host club - AustralAsian Golf Club of Melbourne with the most participants of twenty golfers, headed by its President, Buddy Espineda.
“As in the past years, we expect that all our participants would have a great golfing experience in the Philippines”, said Ric de Vera. #
