Off-duty police officer stabbed – Randwick

Police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing of an off-duty police officer at Randwick this morning.

About 9.45am emergency services were called to the intersection of Cowper and Hodgson Streets after reports that a man had been stabbed.

The police officer in his 40’s has suffered a number of stab wounds to the chest and a head injury. The officers family have been informed. He was treated by ambulance officers at the scene and taken to Prince of Wales Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police are searching the area for a man who has been described as being in his 20’s wearing a black hooded jumper, white shoes and armed with a knife.
