Man charged over alleged 2006 murder - Yagoona
TFA News | November 8th, 2007A man will face court charged over an alleged murder in Sydney’s south west last year.
Shortly before 5pm on 8 May 2006 a 45-year-old man was stabbed several times during an altercation at a cafe on the Hume Highway, Yagoona. He died at Liverpool Hospital later that day.
Strike Force Alana, comprising detectives from Bankstown Local Area Command with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, was formed to investigate the stabbing. Following a 17-month investigation, Bankstown detectives last night arrested a 28-year-old man at Guildford. The man was taken to Bankstown Police station and charged with murder. He was refused bail and is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.
Bankstown Local Area Commander, Detective Superintendent Dave Darcy, said the arrest was the result of dedicated hard work by investigators.
“The tenacity and commitment shown during the 17-month investigation has earned the detectives from Strike Force Alana a great result,” Detective Superintendent Darcy said. /NSW Police Media
